Maybe because it was the 4th of July, maybe because the weather forecast looked abysmal this afternoon but maybe (like me), people just hate doing this long time trial.

The short time trial is the only time trial where the wind really matters. We race in one direction as opposed to the long one and the Deerfield one. Today’s wind was a disappointment.
Lots of close real time and asynchronous times today. The weather turned perfect for the afternoon and the road was mostly dry by 5 pm. There were hundreds of millipeds (or milli of centipedes) all hell-bent on crossing the road this afternoon. I avoided most of them but am sure I squished a few, especially on the screaming descent.
The TT was canceled this evening but that doesn’t mean that nobody did the course earlier in the day. In fact, there were 5 of us that, for one reason or another, went out before the wind a-started a-howlin’ and the particulates from the Canadian fires a-started a-blowin’.
Perfect weather! Low 70’s, sunny, a mild wind from the south, dry roads.
I’m not sure if there was a favorable wind window to optimize times. I do know that Cindy tried to outsmart it around noon but don’t think she was successful.
