It was cold (as advertised), around 39°F at the Academy with a brisk wind. A hard core crew of: Jonathan O., Jay, Ron, Frank, Mike S., Mike Y., Chris D., myself & (surprise!)John T formed. Wait- I thought we were hard core, until Roger S. showed up to say hello and said he already completed his ride!

Indeed, the weather finally cooperated for us on Saturday. It was close to 50°F and sunny as about 12 gathered at the Academy for a somewhat challenging route I had planned…. but it had a purpose- attempting to gather the last fall foliage vistas of the season!

A group of seven set out from the Academy under threatening skies that were already starting to spit a little bit of rain. The temperature was around 60°, though, so things weren’t too uncomfortable.

On a beautiful morning about 16 riders gathered at the Academy. The C group decided to join us, as for some reason (some may have suggested it was a rest week for me!) I planned out a “flat” route.

The recent cool weather continued this morning, with a bit of a chill at the start, but things warmed up nicely as the day progressed. We rolled from the Academy with a group of about 17, and headed over to Williamsburg for the first big climb of the day, up Hyde Hill Rd into Chesterfield.

For our fourth Super Saturday Morning Ride of the year, Roberto suggested a couple of climbs, and I pieced together a route to get us there. The day started out looking a little threatening, with a tiny bit of drizzle at the start, which may have scared some folks away.
