We all sensed that the weather was turning. By the time we regrouped at the corner of Torrey Street and Loudeville Road, the wind was causing the trees to swirl and a few drops were hitting the sides of our faces.

We had 13 riders show up to tackle the ride. The weather was amazing and the mood on the roll out was great.
The ride seemed to move along comfortably as we made our way through downtown, and then onto Glendale and Pomeroy Meadow before starting the climbs leading to the first regroup spot by the Outlook Farm.
On our ride back to Northampton, we saw a couple of lightning strikes in the distance. The ride was great and the rain was even a bit refreshing.
The weather was ideal. It was around 70 degrees with low humidity and a gentle breeze. We could not have asked for better conditions, although Sean did request that I raise the temperature a bit.
To avoid the predicted temperatures in the high 90s, we started our ride at 8 AM, opposed to the regular 9 AM. We had ten riders in the C group this morning.
Despite brief periods of rain earlier in the day, the roads were dry and the sun was out. In fact, it was a gorgeous evening. The only challenge was the tremendous headwind!
The part of Westfield we entered is known as Wyben and has been known for its numerous apple orchards in the past, and while there’s still plenty orchards in the area, as elsewhere housing development steadily claims old farmland.
