We had close to 30 people arrive at the Academy for 7:30- an amazing turnout for an early Saturday Morning ride. When I woke up at 5:30 I was a little worried, as a check of the radar showed a pretty significant line of showers to the west- exactly where we headed.

When I woke up this morning, I was a little hesitant, as it was 39F on my thermometer.. One of those days tough to dress for, knowing the temperature was expected to rise into the 70’s. Warmers and a vest seemed to be adequate.
I woke up to 25°F and frost everywhere, but, the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. With a balmy high of 45°F and mostly sunny skies forecasted, we were a go to ride our last SMR of the year in style.
Oh yeah, this happened. But before I got there, I encountered three deer on the Manhan trail.
It was cold (as advertised), around 39°F at the Academy with a brisk wind. A hard core crew of: Jonathan O., Jay, Ron, Frank, Mike S., Mike Y., Chris D., myself & (surprise!)John T formed. Wait- I thought we were hard core, until Roger S. showed up to say hello and said he already completed his ride!
Indeed, the weather finally cooperated for us on Saturday. It was close to 50°F and sunny as about 12 gathered at the Academy for a somewhat challenging route I had planned…. but it had a purpose- attempting to gather the last fall foliage vistas of the season!
A group of seven set out from the Academy under threatening skies that were already starting to spit a little bit of rain. The temperature was around 60°, though, so things weren’t too uncomfortable.
On a beautiful morning about 16 riders gathered at the Academy. The C group decided to join us, as for some reason (some may have suggested it was a rest week for me!) I planned out a “flat” route.
