Thankfully Saturday was an excellent day for this time of year. It was a chilly 40 F to start, with 11 of us at the park. We headed out the Thursday Night route to Williamsburg and kept a very nice conversational pace with everyone checking in with each other on their winter hibernation (or not!) plans.
It was unseasonably chilly in the morning, with temperatures in the low 50s, as we rolled from the Academy with a dozen+ riders at 7:30 AM. We first climbed up into Chesterfield, where we lost Chris fairly early with a badly-cut tire.
We had around a dozen gather up this morning under sunny skies temps near 50- enough for arm warmers for many.
We started the day at the Academy under vaguely threatening skies with seven riders — myself, Don, Andrew, Mike, Philip, and new club members and first-time SMR riders Alan and Carl.
Another awesome turnout at the start (for such a chilly day)- I counted 18 or so, and a couple of new faces. On Bay Rd a bit of the pent up winter/spring energy gapped the paceline a bit, but not for too long.
While some may say it is too cold in the morning to do these rides, I say suck it up and enjoy. The roads are still (relatively) clean and salt free, so why not take advantage?
Well, no ghosts or goblins on this ride today. Just tired legs.
