2018 NCC Annual Meeting Awards over $7K to Members

At the beginning of each year, the Northampton Cycling Club celebrates its members by awarding grants and Racer Rewards earned in the preceding season. On February 11, 2018, at the annual NCC Member Meeting, the club, lead by the volunteers of the Board of Directors, gave a total $7,600 back to club members.

$6,000 was earned by NCC members racing in the current club kit (2017), in many cycling disciplines, including Road, Cyclocross, Mountain Bike, and Triathlon. Racer Rewards are paid out based on the number of races completed by an individual, as long as they meet the required amount of volunteering at club events (6 hours). Mark Hewitt was this year’s top competitor for the NCC, completing over 80 races in every discipline except triathlon.

The remaining $1,600 was paid in the form of Juniors’ Grants – money given to young riders to help pay for equipment expenses and race entry fees. Most of the grants awarded for the 2017 season went to individuals, age 16 and under, upgrading bikes and wheels for competitive use.

These awards are the highlight for many club members, because they encourage the future development of cycling as both a competitive and recreational activity. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, and especially our members, because this is what makes all of the Club’s activities possible.
