BikeFest: The NCC’s premier event, BikeFest, is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Most of the money we raise is donated to the JAM Fund, which helps kids across the country who are passionate about riding bikes and racing. There are multiple BikeFest routes to choose from, including a family route, 25 to 100 mile road routes, and 30 to 60 mile gravel routes. The event traditionally ends with a huge party at Look Park that includes food, friends, and music.
Greylock Hillclimb Time Trial: This fantastic event takes place every fall, testing the legs of hill climbers up the highest peak in Massachusetts, Mount Greylock. This event is a nine-mile timed bicycle hill climb. Riders leave one at a time from the starting area at Western Gateway Heritage State Park and climb to the summit through the northern section of the Mount Greylock State Reservation.
Massochistah: Each year, the Massochistah calls gravel riders to Western Massachusetts’ mud, dirt, and possibly even snow. The routes, affectionately know as the Dirty (30 miles), the Hurty (50 miles), and the Gurty (70 miles), climb 1,000 feet for every ten miles.
Tour of the Hilltowns: The Tour of the Hilltowns is a classic New England road race. It features many amateur divisions and a more challenging professional field. The race goes through the Notchview Reservation in Windsor, MA. It includes the challenging Route 8A descent and the difficult East Hawley Road climb, which the pros ascend twice.
Junior Cyclocross Series: Each year, the NCC partners with the Northampton Parks & Recreation Department to run a training series for kids in grades 2 through 8. All riding levels and abilities are welcomed. Please have your child bring a working bike and a helmet, and we’ll do the rest.
Youth Cycling Series: This is a safe, fun racing series for kids is held on a grass course by the sprinkler play area at Look Park for children 3-12 years of age. This popular series has been held for well over a decade.
Time Trial/Hill Climb Series: During the outdoor season, the NCC hosts a weekly series that alternates each week between hillclimbs, which are mass-start events where drafting is allowed, and time trials, with individual starts at 30-second intervals and no drafting allowed. The races are informal events and attract all different ages and skill level riders.
Crit Training Series: This exciting training series started in 2010 and quickly proved to be a great way to train and gain valuable racing experience with friendly guidance from NCC. The series usually runs the month of July.
