Where to begin on this post … I feel like the assistant coach in Bull Durham that has to go out to the mound and solve a myriad of personal issues between Nuke and Crash and the gang while the game is going on.

First off, JOK shows up on a 35 pound Lotus from the Eisenhower era, rocking a road tire in the rear and a cross tire in the front with sandals (okay, Shimano sandals with cleats) and then posts the slowest * time of the night.

Second (and with the *), Patrick and Talia show up for their first ever Tuesday event, freshly relocated to Easthampton from Burlington, VT. Talia and I tried to hash out at the end why dedicated cyclocrossers like ourselves even want to do a time trial but in the end decided that it was character building and that we should probably go outside our comfort zone on a semi-regular basis. Her partner Patrick, however, suffered a full tire blow out at mile 1.5 and required the assistance of, first Melissa to go retrieve him in her car after she finished her TT, JOK who tried to help fix the tire and keep them company while I, third, rode the mile home and brought back an assortment of used tires, tubes and a decent pump so that the two of them could ride back home. Phew!

Two PRs tonight – Dusty by a whopping 1:26 and Colman by 39 seconds. Nice. Dusty stays in the lead overall and in the TT.
