With most of our Saturday morning regulars at Noho CX this morning, we had a small group of three riders (Tim, Zinj, and me). We rode the new Shorelines and Summits route in Watopia.
As we settle into the Zwift riding season, it was nice that Zinj joined us late, as is tradition. Within 5 minutes, he was complaining about Zwift graphics, so everything was back to normal.
The first 17 miles of the route were very flat and traversed new roads. Then the climbing started. We slogged up the Epic KOM and then to the Radio Tower.
Zinj shared his excitement about the possibility of using a new CNC machine. I can only imagine the custom bike parts he will be tinkering with all winter. Tim and I got him fired up by sharing the article on the SaddleSpur.
The group was very concerned about a stairway we passed that led to nowhere. Honestly, Tim and I were okay with it, but Zinj had ChatGPT compose a stern letter to Zwift.
I shared that I watched the new JFK documentary on Disney+. The series is interesting with all the restored footage, including many clips that I had not seen before.
Our other topics included AI, Zwift races, 1990s computer games, bike trainers, bike tech (titanium vs. aluminum), and training plans.
We all earned the Shorelines and Summits route achievement, which doubled our XP points.
In total, we rode approximately 31 miles with 2,600 feet of climbing. It took us about two hours to complete the route. At the moment, Tim and I have the top two spots on the NCC Strava leaderboard for the route. Granted, we are the first two members of the club to ride the route. Since Zinj joined us a little late, Strava did not credit him with the route, but Zwift did!
