Being the first Saturday in November, we kicked off the NCC’s Saturday morning Zwift rides today.
At 9 AM, Tim, Henry III, and I set out on one of Watopia’s new routes, the Big Ring. This route happens to be the longest of the new routes and counted as stage 5 of the Tour of Watopia.
Tim and Henry were in the group ride, while I rode the same course doing a workout. Through Discord, we were able to chat. For a long time, I was chasing Tim and Henry. Eventually, on the climb out of the jungle, I realized that I had passed the pair. That was short lived since the intense section of my workout was done and I started a long cooldown.
Tim and I attempted to explain the concept of zone 1 and 2 to Henry. I’m still unclear if he chose not to understand the concept, but then again, he never rides below zone 4 anyway. At one point, Henry asked when the jungle climb begins and Tim informed him that they were in the midst of it. That was a Melissa-type question.
We chatted about today’s Treehouse CX. It was interesting seeing photos of the wooden staircase that was set up on the course.
Tim brought up the article shared on the discussion board by Tim C. It was a Cycling Weekly article about a Zwift racer who won her first in real life race, the NCC Greylock Hillclimb!
Henry and I earned the Big Ring route achievement, which doubled our XP points for the route. Henry also completed level 32 and earned his avatar the fluoro gloves.
In total, we went 32 miles with 900 feet of climbing. It took us approximately 1 hour and 37 minutes.
