The seven of us on Monday’s C ride agreed that this new route was a keeper: 35 mile Mount Tom loop from Florence. We headed to Southampton, then up and over Mount Tom road – (easy gradual ascent and dramatic fun descent within Mt Tom park) and back to Florence via Easthampton. The only challenging parts were ~1/2 mile on 141 getting from Southampton road to the Mount Tom road, ( busy traffic and not great road conditions), and ~1 mile on route 5 connecting back to the bike path in Easthampton. ( high traffic and wide but debri strewn shoulder)

We had 4 new riders: 2 visitors from Canada, Terry, and Cheri, visiting their friend David, and Jennifer. Andy, Rob and I rounded out the returning crew.

We took our break at a Dunkin in Southampton, which was fine, but- we will keep a lookout for a ‘non-franchise’ alternative in the future. Suggestions welcome.

Weather was fine – very warm by noon- when we finished.
