The 14th edition of the Hatfield Lions Club Bike Tour will be held this Saturday, June 10th. The current weather forecast is for a very nice day, sunny with a temperature range of 49 to 71 degrees.

The proceeds from the event will support eye research, the traditional cause for the Lions Club. The Northampton Cycling Club is supporting this ride financially and will not hold our Saturday B ride or Saturday C group rides to encourage members to participate in this event.

The entry fee is $30 per rider. Riders may register in advance through BikeReg, and day of registration ($35 cash) will also be available at the event. Pre-registered riders will receive a complementary t-shirt, which will feature an NCC logo!

Please consider helping the NCC to make a positive impact in the local community.

There are three route options:

  • The 25 mile route is very flat (less than 800 feet of climbing) and goes through Whatley, Deerfield, and Hatfield. This is a great ride for families.
  • The 35 mile route doubles the climbing of the 25 mile route and adds Conway to the mix. Both the 25 and 35 mile routes have a rest stop in Deerfield, in the shade at the base of the Stillwater Bridge.
  • The 50 mile route is really 56 miles with over 3,600 feet of climbing. This is a scenic ride that travels up to the picturesque Bardwell’s Ferry Bridge connecting Conway and Shelburne Falls. This will be the first rest stop of the day. From there, the adventure continues and meets up with the other routes at the Stillwater Bridge rest stop.

If you have an NCC kit, please wear it for the ride. For those interested in completing a metric century (100 kilometers/62.14 miles), the 50 mile route can easily be extended using this rebel route, which tacks on six miles from the final rest stop.

After the ride, there will be a pasta lunch. In addition, since this is taking place in Hatfield, baked potatoes will also be served.

This ride will be great practice for the NCC’s upcoming events, including the JAM Fundo (July 23rd) and the Greylock Hillclimb (September 9th). Active NCC members qualify for a 10% discount on their entry fees for NCC events.

June 8th message to NCC Members Signed up the Hatfield Lions Club Annual Bike Tour:

Thank you for registering for the Hatfield Lions Club Annual Bike Tour. We still have a day to go, but there are 34 current or former NCC members signed up.

The weather looks great for Saturday, and the air quality continues to improve.

I know many riders are eager to start the ride just after 8 AM on Saturday. If possible, let’s gather for a club photo just after 8 AM and then be on the road riding by 8:10. If you have an NCC kit, please wear it.

We have a great mix of riders, and groups should form naturally.

Thank you again for registering. See you Saturday!
