The Northampton Cycling Club is about to start its 2023 outdoor group riding season! On opening day, Wednesday, May 3rd, we have two rides, the A/B ride and the C ride, leaving from Pulaski Park in Northampton at 5:30 PM.

Yet the weather forecast for the week looks very wet. Weather is always challenging to predict. Our ride leaders typically make the call to cancel a ride about an hour prior to the scheduled departure. We understand that there will always be riders disappointed when we cancel a ride, but we make the choice to cancel a ride for the safety of all participants.

So how will you know if a ride has been cancelled? Cancellation notices will be on Link My Ride and a banner will be at the top of the NCC website.

With Link My Ride, the NCC will be able to notify all the riders who have signed up for a ride with a notification to their phones. If a rider tries to sign up after the cancellation, they will see that the ride has been cancelled.

Left: Notification for riders signed up in advance. Center: Cancellation notice on a user’s feed. Right: Unable to sign up for a ride that has been canceled and the reason for the cancellation.

We know everyone is excited for club rides. The number of riders already signed up on Link My Ride for May 3rd’s A/B ride and C ride is outstanding.

If you are an active club member and still need to sign up for your free Link My Ride accounts, here are helpful links:
