This week’s Saturday morning adventure had us ride the Dust in the Wind route in Watopia. Tim complained that it was too flat, but by the time we finished, he was pleased with the 2,000 feet of climbing.

We had six riders (Chris, Dusty, Melissa, Steve, Zinj, and me).

The NCC has created a Zwift racing monster! After his first race ever on Thursday, Chris did three races and a group ride on Friday!

Zinj joined us late as always. It took us a few minutes to realize that he was not on Zwift, but riding outside! His Discord cut out at times and we heard him picking up his Dunkin order, but he was with us. After claiming it was not that cold out, he was annoyed when his heated gloves stopped working.

Melissa had a bike fit on Friday and shared her experience. There was a lot of information being thrown at her, but she valued all the feedback. Tim shared the website 99 Spokes, while Zinj mentioned Geometry Geeks. Melissa cut the ride short with the classic excuse of having a Covid booster yesterday.

Steve was enjoying his new trainer, although he did disable the road feel since he found it annoying.

Chris is interested in how cadence meters work on trainers. Unfortunately, Zinj’s Discord was not cooperating for that question.

We learned that Zinj is quickly approaching a milestone birthday. Tim shared advice from his doctor upon crossing the middle age barrier: “Your body is like a car that just went out of warranty, so you need to take care of it now.”

In total, we rode 35 miles with 2,000 feet of climbing. We finished at 2 hours and 17 minutes.

Chris completed level 7 and earned his avatar the Vintage Kit Pack. He also earned the Marathoner (40 kilometers in one ride) and the Dust in the Wind route achievements, which doubled his XP points for the route. Dusty finished level 38 and earned the Vintage Leather Shoes. I completed level 53 and earned my avatar the 1980s Bike Paint (for Zwift Steel).
