Week 1 Results: NCC Zwift Winter Hill Climb/Time Trial, 1/3/23

The NCC Zwift Winter Hill Climb/Time Trial Series commenced today.

The challenge for the day was Box Hill in London. This hill is 1.87 miles with an average gradient of 4% (446 feet of climbing).

At least five of our twelve riders were from Conway. I guess they are used to the hills.

Dusty took the top position today. He won by 5 seconds over Henry II. Zinj edged Melissa out of a podium position to prevent a Conway sweep.

Jonathan and Henry III had the same Strava time and split the points for 5th and 6th.

After starting the hill climb very fast, Andy slowed down and took 8th, with Tim finishing 16 seconds back.

Lauren put up a strong time to finish 10th. Melissa better watch out this season!

I’ve been doing endurance workouts, so I intended to do my workout up Box Hill and finish last in tonight’s competition. Unfortunately, I fell victim to selecting the wrong “Great” course in London and went up Leith Hill instead. Since I’m keeping score, I’m giving myself a point anyway.

Congrats to Henry II, Henry III, Lauren, Steve, and Keith on PRs tonight.
