Our final race for the fall season took us to Watopia, four laps of the Volcano Circuit. This is a flat loop with one little kicker in the middle of each lap. There’s not much to break apart the pack, and accordingly both the B and C races stayed almost entirely together until the end. The B group stayed pretty restrained until the final entry into the volcano, where the pace ramped up significantly. I felt pretty good at the end, but I couldn’t catch Dusty, who ended up with a great finish, about a half-second and several places in front of me, taking 6th in the B’s. Tim also had a great race, finishing 5th in the C group, enough to earn him the overall points win for the day and nudging him ahead of Michael into fourth place in the overall series standings.

Despite some strategizing and conspiring earlier in the day from various riders about how to move up in the standings, and the double points on the line tonight, there were no significant changes in the overall standings, with Jonathan and Melissa taking the men’s and women’s wins. Thanks to everyone for coming out and participating in this series! We’ll take a couple weeks off for the holidays for both the Tuesday and Thursday night series, and we’ll be back in the first week of January to start another season of competition to tide us through until spring.
