We were originally supposed to ride the Eastern Eight route in Watopia this morning, but I’ve been on a badge hunting quest of late. So last night I changed the route to Turf N Surf in the Makuri Islands.

We had eight riders today (Brant, Charlie, Dan, Melissa, Steve, Tim, Zinj, and me). Melissa late joined and was riding with us when all of a sudden we reached a fork in the road. Six riders took the option to the left, but for some reason Melissa took the road less travelled. Melissa was on her own the rest of the ride but educated the group on the poetry of Robert Frost. Zinj joined late as well but did stay with the group. We have had this issue in the past with late joins, so there is something in the Zwift code this month.

Speaking of this month’s release, there are four new route badges: France’s La Reine, NYC’s Gotham Grind, Watopia’s Waistband, and Richmond UCI Reverse. I’ll work to get these on the NCC schedule. Tim mentioned that next month’s release is a big one with the release of the Scotland map.

Tim and I were out of town for the majority of the week. Tim was in San Diego for business, while I was visiting family in Florida. We discussed Florida for a while. It is a land of humidity with no hills. The weather was pleasant while I was there. I explained the golf cart scene.

Charlie has been using Zwift Sauce. He was trying to figure out why Tim and Dan displayed an NCC flag, while I did not. It turns out that Tim and Dan have “(NCC)” in the Zwift name, while I have “- NCC.” To put Charlie’s mind at ease, I have changed to the “(NCC).”

The recent Zwift cheating case was discussed. We theorized that Zwift may be sending a message to Melissa by diverting her on a separate route today.

There was no saddle talk today, but we did discuss Zinj’s new titanium bottle cages.

Steve complete level 37 and earned his avatar the Bell Javelin Helmet. Brant, Charlie, Steve, Tim, Zinj, and I earned the Turf N Surf route achievement, which doubled our XP points for the first lap. I’m still unsure how Zinj earned the route achievement on lap 1 since he joined the ride 25 minutes late!

In total, we rode 31 miles with 1,300 feet of climbing. I was the slowest in the group and completed the ride in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
