To close out the month of November, we rode the new Island Hopper route in the Makuri Islands.
We had seven riders tonight (Charlotte, Charlie, Iggy, James, Tim, Zinj, and me). Charlotte and James joined us for their first NCC Zwift group ride. We had riders residing throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York with us today.
For some reason, Melissa was missing this evening. We were left to assume that Melissa, a Cat 4 CX racer, was intimidated by Charlotte, a Cat 3 CX racer. Granted, Charlotte revealed that her father, Joe, may be scarred of all of all of us on Zwift! We encouraged Charlotte to join our Tuesday hill climbs and time trails.
Tim and I are working our way back into shape after a few weeks off the bike. Tonight was my hardest ride in a while!
We chatted about a variety of topics on Discord. I encouraged Tim to check at Francis Cade’s daily YouTube videos of his trek across the United States. We learned even more about Zinj’s custom 3D printed saddle and 3D printers in general.
Charlotte completed level 2 and earned her avatar the Zwift Black Helmet. She also unlocked the Ride On achievement. Tim made it to level 44 and can now wear the Zwift Alpine Slopes kit. We all received the Island Hopper route achievement, which doubled our XP points for the first lap.
In our 60 minute ride, we covered approximately 20 miles with 800 feet of climbing.
