For the fourth year in a row, the Northampton Cycling Club hosted its annual post-Thanksgiving Day Zwift ride.
At 9 AM, I logged onto the Discord chat to say “hi.” To my surprise, I was the only rider on Discord. Apparently the group was keeping “Zinj” time and decided to show up fashionably late. Eventually, we had five riders (John, Melissa, Steve, and Tim). Zinj may have eventually joined the Discord conversation after the 30-minute late join period.
The group tackled the Temple and Towers route on the Makuri Islands, which covers both the new Neokyo roads and the rural sections of the Makuri Islands. This route covers three KOMs (Rooftop, Castle, and Temple) on the island.
I was only present for the first 20 minutes of the Discord chat, but we exchanged Thanksgiving stories, including reports on traffic as many of us travelled throughout Massachusetts yesterday. Melissa even gave us a high school football report, which made her extremely happy. The rest of us nodded at the appropriate times to make it seem we completely understood what she was saying.
There will not be a Saturday ride tomorrow (11/26), but the full Zwift schedule will resume next week. I’m planning to be back for all the rides, so watch out!
John completed level 14 and earned his avatar the Level 15 Kit.
In total, the group rode approximate 30 miles in 1 hour and 41 minutes. It was a reasonable amount of climbing, 1,438 feet, after the smorgasbord of food yesterday.
