17 percent! The NCC Greylock Committee has been quietly making preparations for the 2022 edition of the Mount Greylock Bicycle Hillclimb which happens this September 10th in North Adams MA.

Riders leave the starting area in a time trial fashion to test their legs (and wits) against the tallest peak in Massachusetts, climbing just shy of 3,000′ over the 9 mile course.

Greylock is part of the Bike Up the Mountain Point Series (BUMPS) and a favorite among those that compete in that series for its wonderful views, undulating course, and the 12.2% quarter mile right after the start. Whether you’re doing the whole BUMPS series or just taking on this one mountain, take some time to register now at BikeReg.

NCC members can still get $10 off the registration fee using the code available on the NCC website.

All participants get their choice of starting time, a post race meal at the wonderful Freightyard Pub including a beer from our sponsor Berkshire Brewing Company (thanks BBC!), and the (always spectacular) Greylock T-Shirt.

There will be medals awarded for age group winners at the post race meal. There is even a bag shuttle service to get some warm weather gear to the summit for your descent. Not everyone rides down, but for those that do, some cold weather gear is essential.

Check out the Greylock event page for more details, or head on over to BikeReg and register now. And if you’re not inclined to take on Greylock yourself, we could always use your help with the event. All volunteers get a post race meal and T-shirt. Check out the volunteer signup page for details.
