After a few years hiatus, local mobile bicycle shop Speed and Sprocket Cycle Works is bringing the Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival back to the Pioneer Valley! The event is on May 22nd at 6 PM at the Bombyx Center for Arts & Equality (130 Pine Street Florence). Doors will open at 5:30 PM.
At the event you will enjoy nine unique films from all over the world, many of which will celebrate their USA or World premiere at the event!
Distant Dharma follows adventurer Rebecca Rusch as she sets out to ride a fat bike 350 miles across the frozen Alaskan wilderness. There are wanderlust-inducing adventures in the Alps, Bikepacking Munich Nice, and in Oman, Bikepacking the Sultanante of Oman, with camerawork that will take your breath away and get you packing your bags. There is a Korean short film, Mr. Sisyphus, about a teacher starting to ride after being fed up with classroom-by-Zoom. We also celebrate our first teen-directed film from new filmmaker Frederick Joseph Garnerone, entitled 4 Countries, 4 Bikes, 1 Day.
In addition to in-person, we’ll be offering streaming tickets to allow you to watch from the comfort of your own couch this year.
For those who chose to attend in person come early for our VIP tasting event, where we’ll have a selection of fine foods and beverages to pair with them from Provisions in Northampton. In previous years, lots of attendees were disappointed that they didn’t splurge when they saw the spread that was available – don’t be one of those people this year!
Every attendee gets a free raffle ticket (additional tickets available for purchase!) for our amazing giveaway of goodies, with all proceeds from the evening going to MassBike and World Bicycle Relief.
