The forecast for the hillclimb between the hours of 5 and 7 pm changed from mostly sunny, to rainy, to a weather advisory, to locust and tornadoes, back to full sun and then a tsunami at 6:45 pm. Luckily, I decided at 4 pm not to cancel and instead, left my house at 5, did the hillclimb and rode home by 7 and saw incredible sun and clouds and lighting as I rode west. Not a single drop of rain! There was wind, a cold cold wind, but I’m glad that I didn’t cancel.
Lots of other folks too joined the fun – 24 total. Strava seemed to be about 10 seconds faster than real time but I had to guess at a few times as there are still people out there that don’t seem to own a timing device. If you notice your results are waaay off, let me know, otherwise I’m going to leave things as they appear below.
Two newcomers tonight – Salem and Jo. Welcome! Six PRs as well – Henry, Sam, Charlotte, Schuyler, Gus and Ben J – Gus beat his best time by over 4 minutes! Must be nice to go from a talented youngster to a talented young man! Great job everyone!
I’m toying with the idea of changing the starting time in 2023 to 5:30. Think about it and let me know if that is better than 6:00 for you. Pros and cons for sure.
