With light rain across Western Massachusetts this morning, we had five riders (Henry, Melissa, Tim, Zinj, and me) head to Austria. We rode the Achterbahn route in Innsbruck.

This very hilly route was chosen for two specific reasons: Henry is a fan of hills and it is five weeks until Massochistah.

Per usual, Zinj had technical difficulties. His resistance was doing odd things, so he turned his smart rollers into a classic set of rollers to ride.

We had a long chat about bike racks. I recently put a wheel on rack on the top of my car. Everyone seemed to be fans of different types of racks for different reasons. I explained that I accidentally left a tool on my roof as I drove down the street testing the rack. This got us all to share stories of the odd things that have been left on top of our cars and fallen off. The iPhone that ended up in the center of Amherst took the prize.

Henry joined the modern age of cycling. He got a new bike computer. We gave him a few tips to help in his evolution.

Solar panels and geothermal completed our environmentally conscious portion of the conversation.

In total, we rode 30 miles with 3,258 feet of climbing. I was the slowest at 2 hours and 14 minutes.

We will have a Wednesday night Zwift ride this week. Hopefully after that the weather will cooperate as the outdoor group riding season starts up.

Join the NCC Club on Zwift or select the link in the discussion board/calendar for invite-only rides.
