Tonight’s Zwift ride was a nice flat recovery ride. We rode almost six laps of the Lutece Express route in Paris, which is the Champs-Élysées route in reverse.
We had six rider tonight (Charlie, Henry, Melissa, Tim, Zinj, and me). At the start of the ride, Tim said he would join us in Paris before the 30 minute late join cut off. He was finishing the Legends and Lava route in Watopia to cross off another route achievement. He did not make the cutoff, but was with us on Discord.
Last night’s hill climb was discussed. There were some incredible times put up last night. The course was deceptively hilly, which made several of us question our wheel choices. I’m still not sure if the disc wheel helped me or hurt me yesterday. Since I did not put up a PR, I’m leaning towards that being a poor choice of equipment.
Gear ratios were discussed at length, specifically the pros and cons of a 1x system.
Melissa shared that her old van used to be great for transporting bikes. Henry concurred and told a story about driving to Texas with bikes and sleeping in a van.
We are all looking forward to the shorter race tomorrow!
Henry earned the Lutece Express route achievement, which doubled his XP points for the first lap.
In total, we rode approximately 20 miles with 633 feet of climbing.
