Tonight’s race featured five laps of the “Farmland Loop” in Zwift’s Makuri Islands, a loop that looks mostly flat, but features a stealth climb tucked into its final stretches, a climb that took its toll over the course of five laps. We had eight riders in the race tonight, and we all hung together in a large and fast lead group until we hit the climb for the first time. The first time up the climb spit out a couple of riders, and subsequent laps each reduced the field further. By the time we got to lap five, we had Dusty, Jay, and myself remaining up front, with everyone else spread out into chase groups a minute or two behind. A fast downhill sprint to the finish saw Jay take the NCC race win with a second-place overall race finish.
[Update 1/21: Jay messaged me to ask me to re-classify him as an A rather than a B, which nudged his points down a bit, just enough to give Tim the win tonight, for the second week in a row]
