The Northampton Cycling Club’s 2022 Zwift Winter Hill Climb/Time Trial Series and Zwift Road Racing Series are starting this week (January 3rd).
Currently, the NCC hosts four Zwift events per week: a hill climb/time trial on Tuesdays, a race on Thursdays, and social rides on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Our 2021 Fall series wrapped up in mid-December. Congratulations to Melissa Warwick and Jonathan O’Keeffe for capturing the women’s and men’s titles for both the hill climb/time trial and the road race series.
Here are details about each series. Riders of all abilities and ages participate in these events. We hope you join us on the virtual roads.
NCC Winter Zwift Hill Climb/Time Trial Series: Each Tuesday, we alternate between a hill climb and a time trial event. Participants may ride any time during the day or participate in the group ride version at 6:00 PM. In the group ride version, we typically warm up together (and chat on Discord) before individually completing the event. Riders are not only competing against each other, but also themselves. For the time trials, virtual TT bikes are required. For hill climbs, we will allow any virtual bike and power ups. Please refer to the NCC Zwift Guide for details about the hill climb/time trial series, including the scoring methodology. For January 4th, we will be riding Box Hill in London. This 1.87 mile hill has an average gradient of 4%.
NCC Winter Zwift Road Racing Series: Each Thursday, an official Zwift race is chosen. Generally, the races will start between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. NCC scoring will be based on your finish position in relation to your assigned category in ZwiftPower. Please see this week’s discussion board post for all the details, including scoring methodology. Part of the fun of the race series is that a rider from any category can win. We often join popular events for the races. With the Tour of Zwift starting up, it would not be surprising for us to join these rides.
The NCC’s social rides are Wednesday evening at 8 PM and Saturday morning at 9 AM.
Although Zwift has not officially released its club capabilities to the masses yet, the NCC is participating in the pilot program. To receive an invite to the NCC club, please follow “Michael Bello – NCC” on Zwift for an invite. So far, we have 40 NCC members in our Zwift Club.
