As predicted, the weather today was rainy. Despite Tim’s encouragement from early in the week to ride outside, four of us (Charlie, Melissa, Tim, and me) rode the Dust in the Wind course in Watopia this morning.

After the race on Thursday, the majority of us were still not riding at full speed. Charlie admitted he had difficulty walking on Thursday night. We all agreed that it was a good race, just challenging given the climbing and mileage. It was good that we were able to spin our legs today at a slower pace.

Our Discord conversation covered a plethora of topics as usual. The Apple TV remote was identified as a point of frustration for many. I actually like the remote, although I have a case for it that is bright red so I do not lose it.

For those of us with little kids, Halloween was a big topic.

Melissa filled us in on her cyclocross adventures. She is looking forward to NohoCX, which is coming up next weekend.

The wildlife on course today was plentiful. We saw bears, deer, and even a few dinosaurs. Charlie was excited to see the T-Rex.

As we finished our lap around the jungle, Charlie and Melissa departed. Charlie need to have breakfast, while Melissa has a CX race tomorrow. Tim and I kept riding. He got a few extra miles in due to my slow speed this morning.

We wrapped up our conversation talking about bike gearing and ActivityFix for Strava.

The complete route took us 2 hours and 6 minutes. In total, we covered 33 miles with 1,913 feet of climbing.

  1. Tim Cary says:

Just to be clear, it was not the same Tim that showed up on today’s Zwift ride! This Tim. that encourages and loves being outdoors as much as possible well into the cooler season, has not yet even set up the trainer, and instead was spending time with family as the rain fell- almost certainly hitting the real pavement tomorrow.
