We are back! The 2021 Northampton Cycling Club Mount Greylock Hillclimb Time Trial is set for Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Covid-19 makes any event in 2021 complex. We encourage all cyclists to maximize their efforts for the climb but also recognize that we may be making adjustments for the health and safety of all participants and volunteers.

As is our custom, participants will leave the North Adams DCR Western Heritage State Park one at a time in pursuit of the summit of the highest peak in Massachusetts. Whether you are a road cyclist, hillclimb specialist, or a first-time dreamer, the 2,805 foot climb is sure to challenge everyone. If riders still need inspiration, they can reflect on Henry David Thoreau’s quotation about Mount Greylock: “a road for a pilgrim to enter upon who would climb to the gates of heaven.”

At the end of the short nine-mile climb there will be hot chocolate and cookies at the summit. In addition, at the summit finishers will receive a medallion conveying the accomplishment of the climb.

Worried about descending to your car? You can send warm clothes to the top by way of event couriers and coast carefully down the mountain dressed warmly.

As always, there will be divisions for men and women: under 20, 20-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 plus. We also have a tandem bicycle category!

The Mount Greylock Hillclimb Time Trial is part of the Bike Up the Mountain Points Series (BUMPS).

Registration is open for the event at BikeReg. Active NCC members qualify for a $10 discount on their entry fee.

For full details, route information, frequently asked questions, please see the NCC’s Greylock Hillclimb page.

And as always – we’re looking for volunteers! If you can spare a Saturday morning, do us a solid and volunteer! Info on our signup page.
