Another hillclimb in the books. We saw the return from the frozen hinterlands of Owen Wright who scorched the course, knocking a full minute off his PR. Are you sure you know where the start and finish line is Owen?? Nick took 31 seconds off his PR and Melissa shaved a full 1:39. Nice job folks!
The Strava segment is quite shorter, probably about two tenths of a mile so the time differential ranged from 32 to 42 seconds, averaging about 38 seconds. This factored into Henry v. d. B’s time.
Since we are returning to group riding this Saturday, here is the new policy that I’ve decided to implement starting next Tuesday. All time trials can be done any time during the day (Tuesday) and reported to me by 9 pm, as we’ve done so far this year. You can also show up at the start line at 6 pm but since this is a no draft ride, there isn’t any advantage to doing this. The hillclimbs, however, will now be mass start events, meeting at the start line at 6 pm – beginning with the Noho/Westhampton/Huntington Route 66 hillclimb on June 8th. I will accept your times if you ride it sometime during the day but you will not have the benefit of any drafting and race tactics that the 6 pm folks get. This policy is subject to change at any time if conditions warrant it.
