Another great SMR Thanks to Jonathon B for putting it together. Sorry for leading the group off of the route you had originally planned. When using Mike’s camera I notice I took both pictures slightly off level, not sure if it was my inexperience with the camera, pressing the shutter button on the top right of the camera to hard or just fatique from trying to keep up on the climb to the peace pagoda. Awesome “it’s a beautiful day” video Mike.

Looks like you crazy monks had a great ride. Nice to see that Mike brought another central MA rider along, too. I am on my offseason training program now so I can only make these rides if they fit the day’s profile. Today wasn’t good. I’m sure there will be opportunities soon.

As you can see by the posts, we had a great ride today. There were seven of us: Mike and Dale (in from Worcester area), Joe, Ron, Mike, Darren, Patrick and Joel (who set a blistering pace most of the day) and me. Despite some grumling and it being colder than the forecast predicted, we rolled out at 9am. We took a route across the river, up 47 to Plumtree, took depot to Cavehill Road to the Peace Pagoda then up 47 to the Bookmill (where Darren peeled off as he felt the pace was a little high for a Jan ride, which he is right about-sorry Darren!) and then down Falls Rd., then back River road to Christian Lane, through Whately with a final climb to Mt. Rd and back the TNR route. It was about fifty miles at about seventeen mod and with 1700 ft of climbing.

No need for any apologies–I knew my fitness level was less than stellar and everyone else was clearly sporting some good fitness. I didn’t want to slow the group down any longer. I got what I wanted–the ~25 miles I rode with you all were great early season miles. It worked out perfect too as I know the area around the Book Mill well and was able to hook up with a friend in Greenfield for another 30+ miles. Hopefully I’ll be able to get down and join for another ride in a couple weeks–maybe I’ll be able to stick with you all for the entire ride then. Thanks for leading the ride, Jon.

Glad it worked out for you, Darren. Hope to see you soon.
