Only two of us identified as C riders on Saturday, although I thought we might be able to inherit some of the unaffiliated as the ride progressed. I tagged along at the back of the group for 10 miles or so, to the intersection of Pearl St & 116 in South Hadley. Then rode back to pick up my dropped companion, but I got back to Hadley center w/o spotting them – hope they improvised a good ride.
I rode through Hadley, N. Amherst & Leverett – I am tempted to refer to this route as “Tour de Tag Sale” – to the intersection of 63 and N. Leverett Rd, then went through Montague Center past the Book Mill, then turned south into what felt like a pretty stiff headwind to Falls Rd and then Rt 47 back through Sunderland and Hadley to Hamp with a short ice cream break at Smiarowski’s. About 51 miles in total, which was manageable but I think 45 to 48 might be a better target. Also ice cream might not be the best fuel…
